A kayaker in solid silhouette, paddle mid-stroke, cap on, a few rocks and water lines around the hull, and “I’d rather be kayaking” hand-lettered underneath. One colour. Simple and specific — it’s a kayak, not a generic boat.
Two inks. Dark ink for white, sand, heather and light blue; light ink for navy, teal, black. Navy with light ink is what the outfitters order.
9 to 10 inches on a front. The paddle and the water lines are the thin parts; at 7 they still read, at 5 they don’t. Chest-size isn’t this design’s strength.
Outfitters and rental shops on the James, the Shenandoah, the New River and the Chesapeake. Summer camps. Sells May through September.
