What Hampton Roads orders

Two things drive the transfer business down here: the Navy and the beach. Command and unit shirts, family-day runs, FRG fundraisers and homecoming banners out of Oceana, Little Creek and Naval Station Norfolk — usually one design, one colour, sixty to two hundred shirts, and a date that doesn’t move. Then the Oceanfront: boardwalk shops that press on demand all summer, surf and kayak rental merch, Neptune Festival and Something in the Water weekends, and the school and church runs from Chesapeake, Suffolk and Portsmouth that fill the rest of the year.

Beach shops in particular reorder constantly from May to September. Same designs, different weeks, no time to wait on a slow supplier. One-day ground is the whole point.

A note on poly and performance fabric

A lot of what gets pressed here is moisture-wicking poly — PT shirts, fishing shirts, rash guards. DTF works on it, but drop to 280°F and press 15 seconds instead of 12; above 300°F some polys dye-migrate and a red logo grows a pink halo. Test one before the run. Fabric guide.
