If you resell what you press, you shouldn’t be paying sales tax on the transfers. Send your resale certificate once and we set your account to tax-exempt.
Who qualifies
Anyone buying transfers to resell as part of a finished product — print shops, apparel brands, Etsy and marketplace sellers, embroidery shops adding DTF, promotional product companies. Also nonprofits and government buyers with an exemption certificate.
Buying transfers for your own team’s shirts, or a family reunion? That’s end use, not resale — you pay sales tax like anyone else. Sorry.
What to send
- Your state’s resale certificate, filled out and signed. Virginia uses Form ST-10. Most other states have an equivalent, or accept the Multistate Tax Commission uniform certificate.
- The email address on your Atlantic DTF account, so we attach it to the right one.
Email both to info@atlanticdtf.com with “Tax exempt” in the subject. We’ll confirm within one business day. Orders placed after that are tax-free at checkout automatically.
Which states
We collect sales tax only in the states where we’re registered to collect it; checkout shows the tax line for your address before you pay. If no tax appears, you aren’t being charged tax in the first place and you don’t need to send anything. If it is, send the certificate.
Already paid tax on an order?
Send the certificate and the order number. If the order is within 30 days, we refund the tax. Older than that, you’ll need to claim it back from your state on your return.
Certificates expire
Some states issue certificates that expire — we’ll email you 30 days before yours does. Most don’t; those stay on file until you tell us otherwise.
